I like cats. I tend to see them everywhere I go. Beijing was no exception. Back in 1983, most people couldn’t afford the luxury of pets. I saw one poodle in 6 months. Things were totally different in 2006 when we visited Xi’an; I even got to see a pet-grooming salon and a pet store. This time round, there were no petstores in our neighborhood, but I saw petfood, litter and toys in the grocery store, a cat magazine, and several cats out and about, including a regal black and white in the chrystanthemum bed at the Summer Palace!
